Google Earth Links

You may use a kmz link to view the data in Google Earth. If you do not already have Google installed please use the link at the bottom of the page to install it. Once you Google installed just click on the associated link below to view a particular layer:

  • Click Here to open the Shaded Relief layer in Google Earth.

  • Click Here to open the Backscatter layer in Google Earth.

  • Click Here to open the Coarse Bathymetry layer in Google Earth.

  • Click Here to open the Fine grid bathymetry layer in Google Earth.

  • Click Here to open the Seabed Classification layer in Google Earth.

Web Map Service Link

You may use a Web Map Service (WMS) link to view the data in this viewer in a variety of Open Source Viewers. To add a layer from the Infomar Webmapping viewer into your GIS package copy the relevant URL given below and paste it into your GIS software.

  • Coarse resolution Bathymetry Grid: Right click Here and select Copy Shortcut to copy the link to the web map service.

  • Fine resolution Bathymetry Grid: Right click Here and select Copy Shortcut to copy the link to the web map service.

  • Seabed Classification Grid: Right click Here and select Copy Shortcut to copy the link to the web map service.

  • Shaded Relief images: Right click Here and select Copy Shortcut to copy the link to the web map service.

  • Backscatter images: Right click Here and select Copy Shortcut to copy the link to the web map service.

Web Viewers and GIS packages

ArcGIS Desktop

The WMS link can be used to bring any layer in the viewer into ArcGIS as an image. In doing so you can overlay your own data onto the Infomar layer. To add a service layer into ArcGIS carry out the following steps:

  • Open ArcCatalog
  • Go to GIS Servers
  • Add WMS Server
  • Paste in the relevant link
Dapple Viewer

In Dapple Viewer:

  • Go to Servers
  • Click add WMS Server.
  • Paste in the Link.
NASA Worldwind Viewer

In NASA Worldwind viewer:

  • Click on the menu Tools.
  • Select Import WMS url to layer.
Google Earth Viewer

Once Google Earth is installed, double click on a kmz link given. The viewer will open and download the layer.
